Nanocrystals
Dr Paredes has pioneered new strategies that reposition nanocrystals from conventional solubility-enhancement tools to highly loaded multifunctional carriers capable of enabling targeted delivery, sustained release, and minimally invasive administration. His early work established novel approaches
to improve oral absorption of poorly soluble drugs, while his subsequent research introduced transformative concepts combining nanocrystals with emerging delivery technologies such as microneedles and other polymeric systems to enable long-acting therapies. These contributions have helped expand the conceptual and technological landscape of delivery science, particularly in thecontext of high-dose hydrophobic drugs. His work has resulted in influential publications in leading journals including the Journal of Controlled Release, with one article selected for the journal front cover, reflecting the novelty and visibility of his contributions within the international delivery science community.
